On a separate but interconnected front, Israel and Lebanon agreed Wednesday to advance a ceasefire, according to a joint statement released by both nations alongside the United States — though significant conditions remain unresolved, among them a full halt to Hezbollah fire and the complete withdrawal of Hezbollah operatives from the South Litani Sector.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sharpened the stakes further, warning that Israel's successive strikes on Beirut risk reigniting full-scale war — and explicitly linking the trajectory of that conflict to the survival of the Washington-Tehran ceasefire.
Iran's Foreign Ministry reinforced that position in a Monday statement, cataloguing what it described as repeated U.S. and Israeli breaches of the April agreement. The ministry alleged that since the ceasefire took effect, Washington had committed "flagrant violations" — among them sustained attacks on Iranian shipping — while Israel had "blatantly" violated both the truce and Lebanon's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
