Iran Says Text-Based Exchanges With US Continue Amid Push for “Final Formula”

(MENAFN) Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran and Washington are continuing indirect exchanges through intermediaries while working toward what he described as a “final formula” for a possible understanding, according to remarks made in a televised interview.

He stated that no formal negotiation mechanism is currently in place, but that communication channels remain open through exchanged messages. At the same time, he noted that no meaningful progress has been achieved in the broader talks so far.

According to Araghchi, both sides are reviewing previously exchanged documents as part of ongoing efforts to shape a potential framework. He emphasized that any future return to negotiations would depend on conditions related to what he described as Iran’s rights and the wider regional conflict dynamics.

He also linked the trajectory of any agreement to developments in neighboring conflicts, arguing that regional crises are interconnected and cannot be treated separately. In this context, he suggested that discussions over a ceasefire or settlement would need to take into account multiple theaters, including Lebanon.

Araghchi said he had previously raised concerns with regional leaders during diplomatic contacts, urging that Lebanon be included in provisions connected to broader de-escalation efforts.

He also claimed that Tehran had sent warnings to Washington regarding potential military escalation in Beirut, stating that any such action would be viewed as a serious violation and would not be ignored.

Reports indicate that Iran continues to frame its diplomatic position as tied closely to regional security developments, particularly the situation in Lebanon and broader Middle East tensions.
