Egypt, US Discuss Path of Iran Negotiations in Phone Call
The conversation focused on possible pathways to reduce regional tensions and explore proposals that could lead to a mutually acceptable settlement between the two sides, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of continuing diplomatic engagement to reinforce ceasefire arrangements and work toward ending the conflict. He reiterated Egypt’s position that dialogue remains essential for stability in the region, describing negotiations as “the best way to enhance regional security and stability,” according to reports.
He also highlighted the need to address the security concerns of Gulf countries, underscoring Egypt’s view that broader regional stability must be taken into account in any agreement.
The foreign minister added that Egypt intends to keep working closely with regional and international partners to promote political solutions that support peace and security.
The call comes as efforts continue to resolve tensions between Iran and the United States.
Previous talks held in Islamabad reportedly failed to produce an agreement, following a conflict that escalated after a joint US-Israeli military offensive against Iran, which Tehran says resulted in more than 3,300 deaths. Iran later responded with strikes targeting Israel and countries hosting US assets, according to reports.
Earlier diplomatic efforts included a ceasefire brokered by Pakistan on April 8, which was later extended with US involvement, as stated by reports.
