Gaza’s Internet, Phone Services Collapse Following Israeli Attacks
The authority issued a statement detailing how Israel’s "systematic targeting" of telecom networks has intensified Gaza’s digital isolation, despite continuous efforts to repair damaged systems and establish alternative connections over an extended period.
Southern and central Gaza have now joined Gaza City and the northern regions in enduring a complete communications blackout for the second day running.
The authority charged Israel with intentionally striking vital telecom networks and primary fiber-optic lines, warning that this blackout risks severing Gaza entirely from the outside world. This shutdown threatens critical services including emergency aid, healthcare, media reporting, and education.
Since October 2023, the Israeli military, dismissing international ceasefire demands, has conducted a relentless assault on Gaza, resulting in over 55,100 Palestinian deaths—most of whom are women and children.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Additionally, Israel faces a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice over alleged war crimes against civilians within the enclave.
