Sixth Round of U.S.-Iran Indirect Talks Resumes in Oman

(MENAFN) Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi announced on Thursday that the sixth round of indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran is set to take place this Sunday in Muscat.

He shared the update via a post on his official X account, confirming that the talks will continue in Oman’s capital under its facilitation.

Since April, the two delegations have engaged in five rounds of indirect discussions focused on Iran’s nuclear program and the potential easing of U.S. sanctions. Of these meetings, three have been hosted in Muscat while two others occurred in Rome, reflecting ongoing diplomatic efforts to find common ground.

However, recent days have seen increased tensions as U.S. officials have escalated demands, calling for Iran to fully halt its uranium enrichment activities—a position that Tehran has steadfastly rejected. This sticking point continues to challenge progress toward any breakthrough in the negotiations.

With the latest round imminent, diplomatic watchers will closely monitor whether these talks can bridge the widening gap or if deeper stalemates lie ahead in one of the world’s most critical nuclear diplomacy efforts.
